Operation
The companies comprising KMG have completed PPP motorway projects throughout Europe with considerable success. Besides the high quality of the newly built motorways, such success is the result of well-organised operating phases. In the case of the M51 Kliplev-Sønderborg motorway, KMG will bring to bear in Southern Jutland all the know-how and experience it has gained from previous large PPP projects, providing Denmark with a perfectly executed motorway concession.
KMG' operations worldwide give the consortium an unrivalled ability to create operating units for all new projects. This encompasses employing and training personnel locally. The consortium's considerable experience in many areas allows it to take fully into account local legal, labour market and partnership requirements.
Such know-how is the key to optimising both the initial and long-term investments, reducing costs and ensuring top performance. To optimise operation of the Kliplev-Sønderborg motorway, KMG will leave it up to the operating unit itself to train newly employed personnel.
Besides high-quality construction, road maintenance will be of vital importance for the motorway's life span. Professional, high-quality maintenance will ensure that the motorway can remain in use for many years after the concession has expired. Materials selection and quality control during the construction phase also affect maintenance requirements.
KMG has therefore decided to take steps early on during the planning phase to ensure improved maintenance by making high demands on the materials used. Our experience of many other PPP projects has demonstrated that this is the right approach, and it has assured the success of many of the motorway concessions completed by STRABAG and Züblin.
