Grøngrøft, February 17th. The traffic still doesn’t roll on the new motorway from Kliplev to Sonderburg, but the first year was postive and without any major surprises for KMG. The construction of the new M51 motorway is on target. The evisaged completion date therefore remains spring 2012.
With more than 225 large construction machines and over 350 experienced employees already a major step toward completion of the new highway is done one year after the signing of the PPP agreement. The first intersection was completed and opened for traffic. Bridgeworks are likewise progressing as scheduled. All bridges between Kliplev and Sonderburg are planned to be completed at the end of summer 2011.
Since the signing of the contract nearly 2,9 Mio. m3 of earth was removed, which corresponds to 95% of the total mass balance, further a 300.000 m2 of subgrade were realized. In addition 40,000 tons of lime, 5,000 tons of cement and 17,000 m3 of concrete were used in the construction of the new highway.
KMG plans to finish the new motorway in record time, so that the motorway will be open to traffic in spring 2012.
